Douglas Heilman

Doug Heilman is a life-long resident of Western Pennsylvania, and self-described foodie. Growing up on his family's farm, food and home cooking always played important roles in Doug’s early life. Doug attended Penn State University where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Nutritional Sciences. He also holds several professional certifications from a 20+ year career in Learning & Development.

Combining a love of teaching and cooking, Doug established a social media presence in 2015, aptly named 'Doug Cooking' where he shares recipes and cooking demos. Doug is a regular kitchen contributor on local Pittsburgh TV for KDKA’s Pittsburgh Today Live. He also enjoys helping with WQED's cooking productions, and hosting a number of live cooking demos in the area. 

As Doug lives out his passion projects in food, he's been privileged to meet so many other talented "food people" along the way, and is excited to share their stories with you on The Pittsburgh Dish.
